ICA events code of conduct

ICA is committed to creating events where every delegate, speaker, sponsor, judge and partner feels welcome, respected and able to participate fully. This Code of Conduct applies to all ICA in-person and digital events, including conferences, awards, webinars, masterclasses, breakfast briefings, dinners and drinks receptions. 

Our values guide how we behave: Inclusivity, Ambition, Curiosity and Integrity.

Inclusivity
We want everyone to feel respected and valued.
At all our events, we expect participants to: 

  • Treat others with respect, regardless of background or identity. 
  • Use inclusive language and avoid discriminatory behaviour. 
  • Listen openly to different viewpoints. 
  • Speak up if you witness harassment or exclusion (you can do so confidentially). 

Ambition
We bring energy, professionalism and high standards to every interaction.
We ask participants to: 

  • Contribute positively to discussions and sessions. 
  • Support one another’s growth and expertise. 
  • Embrace feedback and learn from challenges. 
  • Aim for excellence in how you represent yourself and your organisation. 

Curiosity
We champion learning, discovery and innovation.
At our events, you can help foster curiosity by: 

  • Asking thoughtful questions and participating constructively. 
  • Sharing knowledge respectfully. 
  • Challenging ideas, not people. 
  • Embracing new perspectives and approaches. 

Integrity
We expect honest, transparent and ethical behaviour from everyone.
This includes: 

  • Respecting confidentiality and privacy. 
  • Avoiding conflicts of interest and declaring them where relevant. 
  • Following local laws, venue policies and industry best practice. 
  • Acting as a responsible representative of your organisation. 

Unacceptable Behaviour
We do not tolerate: 

  • Harassment, discrimination or abusive language. 
  • Bullying or intimidation. 
  • Sexual or inappropriate behaviour. 
  • Drug or alcohol misuse.  
  • Sharing confidential information without permission. 
  • Unauthorised recordings. 
  • Any behaviour that compromises safety or wellbeing. 

Participants engaging in such behaviour may be removed from the event without refund. 

Reporting an Issue
If you experience or witness behaviour that breaches this Code, please let us know. You can speak to a member of the events management team. If you wish to report an incident during or after the event via email, you can do so by emailing louise.booth@int-comp.org with a description of the incident including the perpetrator (name and/or description), behaviour, time and place, witnesses, and any relevant details.
